Antique cameo brooch, possibly from turn of 19th century. White carving on translucent polished brown shell, slightly convex. Cameo roughly 1¾‶ x 1 3/8‶. Extremely fine detail on cameo showing seated profile young woman with a cat on her lap. Spray of rosebuds in her hair and sprays of ¾ stylized flowers with leaves. Looking at ¾ petal flower in her hand. One leaves on surround spray is marked “ART”. Sign on back in copperite style writing “GBOSNELIS.” May be worn as a pin or pendant. Pictorial hallmarks illegible.
