According to the Market Square Jewelers “Big Guide to Chains” on their website, this kind of chain is called a “Singapore Chain”. Apparently has a permanently tarnish-free surface. Stamped “Italy” on one side of the link between clasp and chain, and “925 ”in an oval on the other . On the eyelet of the clasp, “925” is stamped above”Italy” on one side, and a trefoil hallmark with what appear to be the numbers “8 8” in the top two parts of the trefoil, and the letter “I” in the bottom part. The characters were hard to read with a 40x lighted loupe, so reading under higher magnification might help.
