Marcasite and mother-of-pearl brooch in diamond shape, with tear-drop shaped drop from it. Diamond-shaped part of the brooch is about 1 “ by 1”, consisting of a silver-colored metal frame with 8 filigree heart-and-scroll designs set around it, interspersed with 7 2mm round, brilliant- cut marcasites (one missing) around a diamond-shaped mother-of-pearl inset about 5/8 “ by 5/8 “ On the inset of the brooch is a silver-colored, granulated filigree decoration about 3/8“wide with a quatrefoil frame at the center inset with 4 1mm round, brilliant-cut marcasites. Granulated decorations on the hearts and the interior part of the frame. A ½ “ mother-of-pearl drop links to the bottom of the larger frame, and in its turn has a silver-colored frame with stamped scrollwork and granulated decoration edging it. Stamped lines and scrollwork decorate the back of both the main part of the brooch and the drop. The whole brooch is about 2” long.
